ABOUT OUR SPONSORSHIP

AAF is a program in which sponsors are carefully matched with a family and/or individual DPSS participants to provide gifts during the holiday season. AAF relies heavily on the commitment of Sponsors which include organizations, teams, individuals, or families, to spread holiday cheer by adopting a single or multiple family applicants that currently receive DPSS benefits or services.

Families are chosen in a lottery-based fashion based on the sponsors preferences. This is considered a once in a lifetime opportunity, so families that have been chosen and sponsored once, are not eligible for future AAF campaigns. Also, please note that not every family that applies gets chosen.

Each family will complete a general wish list for each family member that includes needed items such as toiletries, household supplies, toys, and school supplies. It is imperative that the sponsor connect with their matched families to gather more details regarding the family’s wish list(s). All gifts must be new. Used items are unacceptable, and we do not advise purchasing gifts before connecting with the families. Additionally, food items and/or perishables are not recommended for the health safety of our family participants.

 Sponsors will discuss with the family their preferred drop off during that time. To deliver gifts, sponsors can meet with their matched family in a public space, go to their home (if family is comfortable with this), or have items shipped via Amazon, UPS, or FedEx. Please include gift receipts mainly for clothing items in case garments do not fit.

Absolutely! AAF families often appreciate various forms of support, and gift cards can be a convenient and thoughtful way to participate. Commonly accepted gift cards include those for grocery stores, and, online retailers. Visa or Mastercard gift cards are also versatile and widely accepted.
